Ersilia

A project selected by Jay Oscarby and commissioned by the Crafts Council for Collect Open 2018. It was first nstalled at the Saatchi Gallery and curated by Julia Ravenscroft (2018)

Selected by Jay Oscerby and the Crafts Council, this project was developed for installation at Collect Open as part of Collect 2018 at the Saatchi Gallery.

This installation – inspired by the story ‘Ersilia’ in Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities – focuses on making invisible connections tangible. The work combines contrasting properties: two versus three dimensions, light versus shadow, reflective versus matt materials. It is created using a combination of weaving and lace-making constructed simultaneously on the loom.
